The MP Side Table received the top honor 'Best in Show' at this year's Design Within Reach: Modern+Design+Function Competition 2010. The table's base was made from cedar lumber which was salvaged from a razed home. The top is made from PaperStone, a composite material made from 100% recycled office paper and a resin derived from the shells of cashew nuts.
M+D+F 2010 is an annual juried exhibition designed to uncover and promote innovative modern original designs by emerging designers who's work emphasizes green and sustainable practices.
Organized by the Design Within Reach Austin studio and juried by respected, creative professionals in the design, architecture, and art worlds, M+D+F provides an opportunity for peer, public, and professional recognition for up-and-coming designers and firms. From the pool of nearly 100 submissions, 12 designs were selected and showcased in the Austin Studio on May 15th, 2010. Among these finalist, 4 designers were honored as winners in 4 different categories including Best in Show, Best Furniture, Greenest, and Best Lighting.
